Bethany House

Bethany House is a 26-bed emergency shelter that provides supportive services for people living with mental illness, addictions, and other life challenges.  We meet them where they are in life and welcome them to a community of people experiencing similar challenges. The shelter welcomes all people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

By offering a variety of housing and support options, we work to ensure that appropriate, supportive environments are available to our guests at Bethany House. We utilize outside resources, made available through our partnerships throughout the Eastern Shore, as well as outreach and housing programs offered through our other Catholic Charities site, the Seton Center.

By providing assertive interventions and services to those that are not considered “housing ready” by other organizations, we are breaking the cycles of chronic homelessness, instability, and substance use for our guests.

The goal is not simply to get people off the streets — we strive to provide a comprehensive array of supports that assist people in achieving stability and independence, which allows them to move forward with their lives.  By providing housing and support in a guest-centered environment, we engage our guests and create an atmosphere of trust where they can discover opportunities for real and lasting change.

HOW WE HELP

We provide emergency housing and three daily meals for up to 26 individuals starting with a 90-day stay. A case manager works with each resident to obtain income and locate affordable housing opportunities. We assist our residents with medications, laundry, clothing, and transportation.
